How to Live a Godly Life in a Secular Society?

Christians have always lived in a world that is not of God. Living in a secular society is not so different than what Christians have always faced because Christ has said that you are not of the world, so the world will not approve of you. It is important for us to see that in our own day and realize that the challenge for us is to learn what our forefathers learned: living for Christ in a fallen world.
We must put Christ as the centerpiece of our lives and see that he is far more beautiful than anything else.
How do we do that? We do that, first and foremost, by looking at Christ. He had lived for his Father. He saw that God was far more precious than all the treasures and wealth of this world. He saw that pleasures are passing and that nothing can compare with the Lord. We must put Christ as the centerpiece of our lives and see that he is far more beautiful and satisfying than anything else that we experience. It really comes down to putting things into focus and realizing that what matters most is Jesus. If I truly love him, because he first loved me, then that gives me the motive to put sin to death. That gives me the motive to be willing to take on the shame, be willing to take on the ridicule of the society around me and stand out and say, "It is okay. I am different because my Lord was different and that is something I want to be. I want to be like him."
