Preaching: The Salvific Voice of God

This research paper by Zachary Leach, submitted to Dr. Robert J. Cara at Reformed Theological Seminary – Charlotte, explores Paul’s theology of preaching as revealed in key passages such as 1 Thessalonians 1–2, Romans 10:14–17, and 2 Corinthians 5:18–21.

Leach argues that for Paul, preaching is far more than the communication of doctrine—it is the very medium through which God speaks and acts to bring salvation. Drawing from Reformed confessional sources and Pauline exegesis, the paper demonstrates that in the preached word, the triune God personally encounters His people: the Spirit empowers, Christ speaks, and the Father reconciles.

Ultimately, the study presents preaching as the living intersection between divine revelation and human proclamation—where salvation moves from the objective work of Christ to the subjective experience of faith.
